#237: Tat Hui Koka Instant Rice Noodles Spicy Seafood Marinara

More Koka! So spicy seafood marinara time!

I like how the little scrawl at the base of the garnishes pack implies that the garnishes may be different from time to time. Mysterious…

Very colorful garnish to be sure – most enjoyable to see!

Click image to enlarge. So what gets me about bowl noodles is that here we have a pretty uniform colored bowl of noodles – but where’d the veggies go? For some reason they tend to get waterlogged underneath until halfway through the bowl and then they start to resurface. I don’t know why. Anyways, good noodles for rice noodles. The broth had quite the tomato flavor to it… The veggies were very nice. I took a taste of the seasoning oil and it packed the serious punch – definitely where the spicy came from in this one. Good stuff – 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

At long last! Yesterday we found the elusive Nongshim Spicy Seafood Bowl Noodle Soup!!! Very awesome! There’s a review of the place we found it at under the Where to Get It tab up top – check out HT Oaktree Market! Now check out this review of Nongshim Spicy Seafood Bowl Noodle!

A single solitary flavor packet as always.

A mountain of bright reddish powder.

So I added 2 eggs as usual. Wow – so so good! Appropriate quality noodles, spicy broth and some interesting added things like naruto and corn. I had it alongside a couple sliced of seafood pancake which was a leftover from Kaya Korean BBQ (www.kayaseattle.com). Everything went together very nicely. 4.25 out of 5.0 stars! Get it here.

So here’s something new – Mama’s Oriental Kitchen… Let’s try…

Usually Mama’s got more packets – not this time.

Quite a bit of powder! Veggies look interesting.

Click image to enlarge. The finished product. A bit spicy and the noodles are nice. I like the veggies too, and I liked enjoying the delicious – see below…

I did enjoy the delicious – and it is delicious! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

So we went to the grocery store and got a bunch of Cup Noodles – at only 25 cents a piece why not, and they haven’t been reviewed yet! So here’s shrimp.

I microwaved the water and put it in it – worked great.

Wow – dehydrated shrimp! I made one for my 5 year old too as we bought two of them on accident!

So this stuff is not too bad (click image to enlarge). My boy said it was “strawberry flavor and tasty delicious!” I liked the inclusion of actual dehydrated shrimp, the noodles were okay, and the veggies were tasty. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

Here’s some more of the Vina Acecook stuff me and my lovely Kit found at HT Oaktree market last week. Seafood flavor!

Clockwise from top left: seasoned oil, vegetables, soup base and chili powder.

Clockwise from top left: powder soup base, veggies, seasoned oil and chili powder.

Click image to enlarge. I added an egg to the boiling noodles. This was excellent stuff! The noodles are appropriately decent, the broth was spectacular and the vegetables were very nice. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars – looking forward to reviewing more of this Vina Acecook stuff.

Hey it looks like the lady from the Dosirac pack! She looks kind of like a nurse. Well, let’s cook it up.

Soup base and veggies…

Hello chili powder! Red mean zing zing zing here – spicy will be for real I think.

Click image to enlarge. Now would you look at that! Some nice seaweed and other vegetable bits going on! Also a tasty broth that was hot but not too hot. The noodles were acceptable. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

Not this but this is pretty epic.

So here’s the second one of these Wai Wai packsI got recently. Says it’s very hot!

Left is powder, right is chilli paste!

Here they sit atop the tasty brick of noodles.

Finished product (click image to enlarge). I really liked the noodles – they were tasty and just right. The broth wasn’t bad either – citrus, some gritty spices and of course, some heat. I’m not going to say it was blow your face off hot by any means but those not keen on hot foods should probably skip the chilli paste altogether. All in all, I like it. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars – could’ve used something more, not sure what.

#284: Nissin Cup Noodles Seafood Flavor ( Hong Kong )

Well look at what I found! I’ve never seen anything like this before – these are manufactured in Hong Kong and look really interesting! Let’s see what’s going on with the seafood flavor – a variety not available in the USA Cup Noodles live!

Here’s the lid – definitely not what we’re used to seeing on Cup Noodles in the states.

Definitely a lot going on here. Ample veggies and looks like seasoning and some seafoody goodness!

As I mentioned in the last post, I use a Prodigy to hold down the lids of small cup noodle type things. So you can see what my noodles are listen to as they bathe in scalding hot water.

Oooooh!

Click image to enlarge. And aaahhh. Finished product. So first off the veggies rehydrated quite nicely. Also, there are bits of seafood in there – real ones! Apparently its pollack, but also there is nondairy creamer in it! Weird… The noodles are great, the broth is great, everything is great. 4.5 out of 5.0 stars!

Re-Review: Nongshim Neoguri Udon Type Noodles Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup

So here’s a classic – Nongshim’s Neoguri. I haven’t had this in a few years so I suppose I’d better have some!

Seasoning powder on the left, veggies on the right.

Bright green veggies on the left, deep red powder on the right.

Boiling in the kettle.

Click image to enlarge. With a couple of eggs, yolk broken. So despite the eggs, this stuff packs a wallop of heat. The broth is spicy but has a very rich seafood flavor. The noodles got bigger and I would definitely consider them to be approaching udon size, but not as big as say Myojo’s Udon packs. The noodles are nice and chewy. I like the amount of vegetables too – lots of seaweed makes me happy with this bowl of noodles. I would’ve liked to have seen more seafood in the ingredients though; all I’m seeing is mussel. I do see sea tangle and seaweed which is a welcome sight though. I’m going to give this one 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. It’s pretty good but I feel left wanting something more. Get it here.

Here’s a commercial for Neoguri. As it turns out, neoguri is Korean for raccoon.

So here’s a weird music video. Enjoy the vids – this stuff uses 19 1/2 ounces of water so it’s a lot to eat!

The King of Cups! It’s big! It’s lobster! It’s today on The Ramen Rater!

Dehydrated veg on the left, powder on the right.

Lots of veggies here – I’m stoked on that. Also a very red powdered seasoning – Could be spicy!

Click image to enlarge. I added a couple fried eggs in here. The broth was rich and flavorful. It was spicy too. The noodles were quite good, and the veggies…  Carrot, sea tangle, welsh onion (leek) round it out. I like this stuff – pretty good. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

Seafood flavor… I wonder if this will be like the Seafood Party? Kind of looks like the same kind of thing.

Veggies and powder seasoning…

Decent amount of veg and the seasoning looks spicy!

Added a couple eggs during the cooking – looked nice so I snapped a pic.

Click image to enlarge. Here’s the finished product, all neat and presentable. So I like this one – I find that the noodles are of good quality this time, and not too chewy or tough like the broad or u-dong. The broth is rich and savory and full of flavor. The vegetables are abundant and tasty. I am giving it 3.75 out of 5.0 stars – really hit the spot. Find it here.

#296: Nissin Cup Noodles Crab Flavor ( Hong Kong )

So here’s the second Hong Kong Nissin Cup Noodles I’ve found. I’m really hoping to find some more flavors because they’re really awesome! Well, here we go…

Yeah – not like the stuff at the regular grocery store huh?

Wow – lots of stuff in here!

Click image to enlarge. All done. I can’t get over how much corn they put in these things… So this one is pretty good. The noodles are your standard Nissin Cup Noodles style and consistency. The broth is rather salty this time, but has a nice flavor and yes, it is crablike! The veggies are very ample and I’m happy and quite pleased with the experience. It does seem a little funky though as the bit of pollack didn’t reconstitute so well. I’m throwing this one a 3.25 out of 5.0 stars.

#301: Dragonfly Guilin Style Flavor Guilin Rice Vermicelli Bún Quế Lâm

So three hundred reviews behind this and onward we go! So here’s a brand I’ve never seen before. A lot of funny stuff on this package – shrimp flavor, bad English… But proof is in the eating right?

Looks like two types of veggies at the top, onions? Then the yellowish looks like perhaps onion seasoning oil and then a powdered base.

Very interesting looking noodles…

Click image to enlarge. A single fried egg tossed in. So this is completely different and very good!  Very interesting noodles – much like the ones found in Lipton Cup-a-Noodle and Mrs Grass soup, except the noodles are longer by quite a bit. The broth is chickenny and the egg dropped in went nice. What’s extremely odd about this is that it is supposed to be shrimp flavor! Mysterious… It’s a great bowl of soup- I really dug it! 4.5 out of 5.0 stars – really I’m highly impressed by this one.

Next to last one of these. Shrimp flavor sounds pleasurable – I shall eat it!

Veg on top, soup base powder below.

Red powder!!! It’s got a slight spicy taste to it too!

Click image to enlarge. Two fried eggs have been added.  Wow this is truly delightful – the noodles came out quite nicely. The broth has a slight spiciness and the veggies are there – not a ton of them but not too bad. The eggs finish it off perfectly. I really enjoyed this one – 4.25 out of 5.0 stars! Get it here.

Go to a Thai joint and try this stuff – worth your while. Note – the noodles above have nothing to do with this vid but again I am unable to find any videos that do.

My Awesome Birthday Noodle Journey!

So yeah look at that insane assortment of noodles – it’s really quite insane. My lovely Kit was so kind as to give me the gift of oriental flava today! First we went to Sun Ya in Seattle – a Chinese restaurant that has dim sum for lunch. Then to Uwajimaya where I got a ton of noodles! The we checked out a place called Viet Wah – that was awesome and yes, more noodles. Then to Seafood City and yes…. MORE  NOODLES! Finally after coming back and relaxing for a bit, we decided on homemade Korean BBQ for dinner. Got the stuff at 99 Ranch Market and yup – got another noodle cup! In all, there’s 65 unique varieties here that will be reviewed on Ramen Rater! So Enjoy!

Here’s a bag with all of the cups and bowls…

…and one with all of the packs and other stuff… Tomorrow, Kit’s going to bring home a box for them…

So it’s time for some spiciness! Champong! Bring it!

Was a little surprised to see this one has over 2200mg sodium! It’s just a cup for cryin’ out loud!

Good amount of powder in this sucker explains it.

Look at all that garnish! Wow – super awesome. I’m excited and amped for it now.

Well here we are (click image to enlarge). Broth is seafoody and spicy, noodles were good and there was a lot of veggies and seafoodyness! I really was impressed – 3.75 out of 5.0 stars!

Re-Review: Tat Hui Koka Mi Hai Tom 2 Prawn Flavour Oriental Style Instant Noodles

So I reviewed this one a really long time ago and thought it really needed to be brought out again. I don’t even remember what score I gave it, but it’s being prepared no doubt a little different this time and so we shall see how it fares. I remember liking it a great deal.

As I reviewed a couple bites and my lovely Kit had the rest for dinner, I skipped the chili powder. Soup base on left, flavored oil on the right.

A lot of base and oil.

Click image to enlarge. Made with two eggs that were dropped in which the noodles were cooking. The noodles were very nice – long and luxuriant. Very nice texture. The prawn flavor is nice – not overwhelming and it plays well with others. I like it very much – 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.

#377: Sau Tao Ho Fan Abalone Chicken Soup Flavored

Yep – here’s another of the Sau Tao’s. I’m just going to go through all of them in a row I think. This is Chicken and Abalone – kind of a new twist on ‘surf and turf’ eh? Anyways…

From left to right we have seasoning powder, seasoned oil and veggies.

A blurry shot of the ingredients atop the noodles. This is what happens when you combine housecleaning and ramen rating.

Click image to enlarge. The final product. Broth is awesome, noodles are awesome, tons of veggies! Extremely good stuff; kind of reminds me of a chicken stew. Added a little black pepper after this picture too and that added a little niceness to the whole thing. So this appears to be my favorite so far of the Sau Tao line. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars! Find it here.

So I’ve been doing these slowly because they’re so cool! Another my sis brought back from Canada. Tom Yam eh? Should be interesting!

Two packets – seasoned stuff on the left and powder on the right.

Powder and paste!

Click image to enlarge. The finished product. It was a trip! As an American, I’m used to one thing with macaroni. Cheese. Or some glue and sticking it to a board and presenting it as art. This stuff is great – it was a little spicy, a light bit seafoody and very citrussy! I found it to be quite good. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars!

#386: Fu Chang Chinese Noodle Company Pork, Seafood & Noodles Combo

$

Well, this looks like a lot of insanity! Here we go!!!

Wait – I thought this was pork and seafood flavor, not shrimp flavor…

Pretty impressive – four packets!

So there’s the contents of that retort pouch on top – looks kind of like cat food and has the same consistency. The dry powder was chunky… The oil looked okay though and a nice amount of vegetables.

Here’s where all hell breaks loose. First off, there are no instructions included on how to cook this. At the end of the seasoning packet ingredients, notice that it has Fe in it. WHAT THE HELL IS ‘Fe?’ Also, no Red Chili Powder Packet. It’s like this product isn’t this product.

I went with my instincts; hell, I’ve had over 380 different varieties of noodles and I should be able to figure out this one’s cooking directions. I added enough boiling water to cover the noodles and all the ingredients. Guess what? The biggest insult I have ever had to deal with – the bowl LEAKS. Boiling water with oil and seasoning all over my table.  And floor. I transferred this stuff to a bowl and added a little water and covered for 4 minutes.

Click image to enlarge. The noodles were absolutely horrible. No character whatsoever. The retort stuff just didn’t work at all. The broth tasted very odd. Add that to the lack of instructions, incorrect ingredients and a leaky bowl and you get a ZERO STAR bowl of noodles. 0.0 out of 5.0 stars. What a mistake these were. Get them here.

Yes, I’m voluntarily Rick Rolling this review. You know the rules…..

And I’ve sold out to the Keyboard Cat as well.
